Upgrading Your Paintball Gear
How the Right Paintball Supplies Improve the Game
Paintball supplies range from the common gun to more tactical supplies that improve player performance and increase the odds that you or your team will reign supreme at the end of a mission. The game of paintball has been around for a few decades, but the way the game is played has changed over the years. Gone are the days of simply trying to capture your opponent’s flag as more complicated missions and objectives have started becoming commonplace on most paintball fields. Players today enjoy trying to overcome their opponents to save a hostage, plunder a village or just take down as many opponents as possible.
The gun, or marker as some players call it, you use determines your precision and speed with which you can shoot paintballs. There are sniper rifles, pistols, and regular shooters. When choosing a gun it’s important to look for a lightweight model that has a frame that allows for easy upgrades. When you’re first beginning, you’ll probably be satisfied with your gun as-is, but as you invest more time and money on paintball supplies and the game you’ll want to add upgrades or accessories to your gun. Some of the upgrades or accessories you may want include a better scope and trigger. Look for a scope with the ability to find an opponent hundreds of feet away and utilizes red dot or laser scoping technology.
As for triggers, most paintball guns come equipped with standard triggers. However, for the maximum release of balls per second, you should upgrade to a semi-automatic response trigger which automatically returns the trigger to the appropriate place and increases your ability to shoot more balls per second. Automatic triggers are available, but most paintball fields don’t allow them during game play, but they are an option if just playing in your backyard or on your own with a few friends.
The tank is what holds compressed air to help shoot the paint out of the gun. Tanks can be filled with carbon dioxide or nitrogen. Aluminum tanks are lightweight and work great for extended play because they increase the amount of time a player can run and shoot without tiring. A steel tank is heavier, but it also holds up better on the field and can take repeated hits without denting or breaking. Nitrogen tanks are a little better than carbon dioxide, since nitrogen isn’t affected by altitude or temperature changes meaning that your shots stay consistent. A hopper is what holds the paintballs. When purchasing a hopper, look for one that holds a large amount of balls without being cumbersome to the gun.
Miscellaneous Paintball Supplies
There is a variety of miscellaneous paintball supplies that aren’t necessary but help improve overall play. Night vision is popular for players who like to have night games or are playing in the dark in a dense area, such as the woods. A throat microphone is another option for players who want to communicate with one another without giving their location away. Pouches and belts hold a variety of ammunition and safety supplies for medical emergencies, and players can choose pouches or bags to carry necessary supplies. With the amount of paintball supplies on the market, players can choose to indulge in a simple game or plan out an advanced tactical game.
