How to get sweat stains out of a saddle? Please help!?
I have a dark sweat stain on my right fender of my semi light leather barrel saddle. It annoys me that its there because its soooo tacky looking but when I ride my leg hides it. My grandpa turned my stirrups and kept doing it when I was not using my saddle which causes my fenders to rub against my horse from my leg. And my horse is hot so just alittle excitement makes him sweat. I took it to the guy who made it and asked how I could get it out. He told me to use leather cleaner. So I got some Leather New cleaner and it did not work at all. It just darkened some parts of the leather making the texture of it show up more. I think its like analine leather? im not sure. I was never a fan of light leather but my parents got the saddle for me from the local maker and all his saddles are light leather. I was thinking about dyeing it a darker color to match the stain so its less visible but I want to know other opinions. Please help! any tips on good cleaners or should I just dye it?
Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do about a sweat stain. Just cleaning and conditioning it regularly will hopefully make it a little less noticible.
