Help me decide… It’s too technical for me :S?
Looking for a laptop, under $500 (canadian). The laptop is only needed for internet, webcam etc. It’s a long ditstnace relationship. Do any of these laptops below look okay? I get really worried when they’re cheap. Only need the laptop for 3 months, than it’ll be binned or sold on as he’s coming home than.
Compaq Evo N620c. 6LB, 14.1” LCD. Pentium M 1.4 ghz processor with full 1 gig L2 cache (same as Centrino – exceptional battery life. Lasts 3 hrs 50 minutes). Uses Motorola wireless PCMCIA card instead of built-in (stopped working). New 120GB Seagate hard drive and 1GB RAM. Very solid magnesium LCD frame, aluminum chassis. $360.
Asus P4S533 with 2.6 ghz Intel chip running both Vista Ultimate on 60GB hard drive and XP Pro on 40GB drive, new Light-scribe DVD-writer, 1GB memory (will add another GB for $60). Includes Microsoft Office 2007, older Photoshop, anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc. $280.
Which would you recommend?
If its only for that small amount of time and only for internet, then you could probably find a cheaper laptop somewhere which will do the job.
The MAX you will need is a 2ghz single core CPU, 1gb ram, 80gb hard drive.
If you can find one with these specs: it will probably do.
1.6ghz or 1.8ghz single core CPU, 512mb ram with xp/1gb ram with vista basic/home premium. 40gb hard drive.
See if you can find a cheap working second hand one.
