Grip Grey
Can you Dye/Bleach rubber materials??
i want to try and make this grey rubber material white…is there a way that i can bleach or dye it without doing any harm
i dont want to paint it because it will lose its feeling/ grip on it
suggestions?
Dye cannot be used to lighten any color. Dye adds color, it does not remove it, and it’s transparent, so it cannot cover up the color that is already there. What you want is a chemical to discharge the color that is already in the rubber.
The difficulty is finding a chemical that will remove the color without damaging the rubber. Chlorine bleach is likely to damage rubber. The sulfur dioxide that is produced by the reducing type of dye-discharging chemical will also damage some types of rubber. If you decide to try any color removal chemical on rubber, you must do a test first on a similar piece of material that is unimportant enough to take the risk.
