How do you get speaker wire to the amp w/out going through the HU area?
I did a 4 speaker to a 4-channel amp installation long ago in a terrible car, and since I was lazy and inexperienced (still am I guess…) I just unplugged the speaker wire from my HU and extended the wires to the trunk where my amp was. It would be better to run shorter wires directly from the speakers to the amp right?
But how do I get wires from inside the front doors to the trunk without going through conventional door hinge-wire harness thingy? and after I get them out of the inside of the door do I run them under the mats all the way to the trunk? I have an 8th generation civic just for reference.
If you’re going to run wire straight from the amp to each speaker, then you want to go through the “door hinge-wire harness thingy.” any other way of getting wire from inside the door to the trunk will leave a hole for the elements to go through, and leave your wire exposed. It can be a huge hassle though. I straightened out a wire clothes hanger and used it to thread the wire through the rubber tube. It was hard and took a lil while to do in my car, but it worked.
and yes once you get it in the door you just run it under the carpet all the way to the trunk.
