which hopper is better for the ion the halo v35 with rip drive or viewloader velocity?
i have an ion and my current loader is a viewloader evolution 3 and im looking for an upgrade. sooner or later i plan on getting a virtue board.
The Egg (evo3) does not feed as fast as the Halo B or VLocity. Maybe in a drop test it’ll hit like 20-22 bps but on a gun you’re lucky if you get 15 and because it’s essentially a glorified agitating loader (like the Revolution), you won’t have consistently fast feed rates.
And the Egg isn’t designed very well – it’s back-heavy (putting stress on the area of the shell in front of the neck), the lid is cumbersome & it has a weak battery door (they break all the time).
Both the Halo & VLocity will blow the Egg away. Both are force-fed so you’ll have a consistent feed rate, especially off the break (right when the game starts & everyone is shooting like crazy). Both are more balanced. Both accept aftermarket speedfeeds. But both are close in feeding speed.
The VLocity is a little lighter than the Halo, especially if you get a VLocity Jr (holds about 20 less paintballs & doesn’t have adjustable speed). Uses two 9v’s stock. It’s a little louder than the Halo when it’s feeding or empty but that’s nothing you’ll notice on the field. Despite how it looks, it’s not larger or taller than the Halo B – side by side comparison shows they’re the same size, just different shapes.
The Halo has a better battery life stock but has a six AAA battey harness. You can do a 9v mod, which requires some wire, a couple 9v clips & some skill in splicing wires or you can buy a 9v adaptor clip. Either way allows you to use two 9v’s, which cuts down on the weight but still maintains the same power output.
