Twist off dome of ceiling mount light is stuck! How do I remove it?
I have a ceiling mount dome light that is supposed to twist off so I can change the light bulbs. However when I twist it it does not detach itself from the ceiling! It just moves along the wall. (There is no nut or screws holding up the dome.) Any ideas how I can safely remove the dome?
I work in a lighting showroom and this happens frequently. When the glass was put in it was put in too tight and is jammed. Make sure fixture is cool, if only one bulb out the other will make the metal expand and make it worse. We will even use those spray air cans for cleaning keyboards to make the metal shrink a bit.
Work gloves with the little rubber dots work best, and use the righty tighty lefty loosey rule. Grip the band with one hand and the glass with the other.
