What are the best Nitrogen (HPA) air tank companies (Paintball)?
I’m thinking about buying a Guerilla Air 68/45 5 year hydro tank for $149 brand new. But then I found a DXS 68/45 for $99, is the Guerilla Air much better quality? Will the DXS leak? And also list the best quality nitrogen air tank companies. Thanks.
DXS 68/45 for $99? Where? That’s gotta be one heckuva sale. Store must be clearing old inventory (DXS updated their tanks a little, mostly cosmetic changes).
The biggest differences are in regulator quality, as all hpa tanks have built-in regulators, part of the reason why hpa is better than co2. It’s also the reason for most of the tank’s weight and its performance. The bottle part itself isn’t made by the same companies as the regs – rather, those companies purchase the bottles from a select few companies that make them (Gayston, Carleton & Luxfer are the most common in the US).
Most brands are good*. In fact, i’d say all brands are good, although you shouldn’t pay more than $150-ish for any tank, because then you’re getting ripped off.
*Just want to point out that there are differences between the tank regulators – weight & recharge. Guerrilla makes the lightest & smallest one while Crossfire currently makes the heaviest one. Recharge is the rate at which the tank replenishes the air supply to the gun after every shot – Crossfire has the fastest recharge. However, recharge rates differ by milliseconds and the average person would neeeever notice.
