Parts Proto Ion
Ion, Epiphany, Omen2.0, or Proto SLG? Witch one should i get?
Ok, me and my friend are starting a paintball team in 3 months it is my first time speedballin but i have woodsballed a handful of times. My setup is A Spyder TL-R (woodsball) Empire Reloader or My Egg3 20 oz. Co2 tank. And i was just lookin for a good starting speedball gun and i was wondering witch one i should get. Cause my friend got a Ion but i just wanted another persons point of view. So what should i get a Smart Parts Ion, Smart Parts Epiphany , Proto SLG, or Evil Omen 2.0?
If it’s your first marker (even if it isn’t), I don’t recommend an Ion- they are a headache for newbs to maintain, they tend to break down more than other markers, and they are prone to more problems if you run Co2 with them, which most newbs do. Even with HPA, the Ion is plagued by problems, and it is slowly being phased out with a replacement due sometime in the next year or so.
You would be better off with a Kingman/Spyder electronic marker since you already have one and are familiar with them, and once you are comfortable cleaning and maintaining it, you could then move to a better S.P. product, like the Epiphany. If you’re sold on buying from S.P. , then ditch the Ion and go straight to the Epiphany, which is a much better product.
I’d also look at the Invert Mini or Proto Matrix Rail (PMR) which are much better markers and probably in your price range. The Mini in particular is excellent in every way.
I have personally never liked any of Evil’s stuff, and I’ve heard they are a pain to maintain, not very durable, and that you constantly have to tweak/adjust them to keep performance consistent, so I’d steer clear.
You could always look on http://www.pbreview.com for reviews, but most of the reviews are by newbs and kids who really don’t know what they are talking about most of the time.
