what paintball accesories do i need?
Ok, Well this christmas i am getting a Tippmann 98 Custom Pro Platinum Series ACT Paintball Marker for sure and i was wondering what accessories do i need to start off with. I want to start going to the arena close to me to play woods ball and speed ball, but before i go i want to have really good aim and be used to my gun so if you guys can please tell me what starting accessories i for sure need i would really appreciate it.
Hopper, if the gun doesn’t come with one. If you have to get one separately, just get a plain gravity-fed hopper like a VL200, they’re like $5.
Tank, whatever co2 tank you want, size ranges from 9oz to 20oz. Price is $10-20, depending on size. Bigger the tank, more shots per fill.
That’s about it for necessary items the gun itself needs. Don’t worry about upgrades, most are personal preference and don’t increase performance. Just make sure to get quality paintballs; do NOT get paint at walmart or sporting good stores. Go to a legit paintball store for the quality, fresh stuff. Paintball quality plays an important role in accuracy – a perfectly round ball flies straighter than a dimpled, lop-sided ball. Many new players don’t realize that.
Get a quality mask. Since it’s THE most important piece of paintball equipment, don’t go cheap. You don’t want the lens to fog & you want it to be super comfortable. Budget at least $50. I recommend a JT Proflex for $60.
As for clothing, just wear anything you don’t mind getting dirty & is comfortable: loose-fitting durable pants, long sleeve shirt, shoes w/ good traction on grass/dirt, some kinda headwrap or bandanna to soak up sweat & keep your mask from slipping. No need to spend money right now on paintball-specific clothes, you can get that later if the need arises (i’d personally recommend paintball pants cuz they’re designed to be very durable yet light & breathable, with all the proper pockets & padding).
