Paintball Tippmann 98 Custom Problem?
I have a 98 Custom with ACT. I just recently switched over to high pressure air, but I can not get my velocity to over 260 fps. I have a TechT Zero Kick Hammer. I contacted Techt and they sent me a new spring for my valve. I have not installed his new spring yet, I tried but I was unsuccessful in disassembling the valve. How do you disassemble the valve? Do I have to take off the braided hose? How do I do that if I have to?
(Also, I can adjust my velocity so it can be about 280-290 fps with CO2 with the standard hammer or the Techt hammer.)
You do need to remove the braided hose to reach the valve, because the hose is preventing it from sliding out the back of the power tube.
There’s a thin metal retaining ring keeping all the valve internals in place. It’s located in the front of the valve. Remove that, and the internals come out. But the ring is tricky to get back into place, and the ring & valve internals are small, so parts could get lost easily.
Taking the valve apart is tricky, Tippmann doesn’t recommend it. If you feel comfortable working on stuff like that, go for it. If not, have a shop do it for you, although they’ll probably charge you a labor fee.
